Foldable Meal Tray

The next project featured was the refurbishing, creating and assembly of foldable meal trays used by air planes of an esteemed airline company. Each of these foldable meal trays would be made up of 24 different components, of which 2 of them were manufactured in SuperPak headquarters. One of the parts was thermoformed and computer numerical control (CNC) machined to the desired dimensions while the other part was made of Expanded Polyethylene (EPE) foam and CNC machined.

The thermoformed plastic parts that SuperPak manufactured were not stand alone pieces, but formed components of an assembly or multi-part enclosure. Like a puzzle, these individual parts must be produced to fit together with precision and uniformity to successfully create the completed product. All the different components including the metal pivot and hinges provided by the supplier would then be sent to the in-house kitting department in SuperPak for manual assembly by rivet and glue.

SuperPak offered assembly in our in-house kitting department as a value added service. This would enable our client to reduce finished product production time, consolidate their supply chain and have fewer suppliers to deal with as SuperPak would do the relevant outsourcing to reliable partners eliminating the need and cost to coordinate multiple suppliers.

As a total packaging solution provider, SuperPak successfully simplified the process of complex manufacturing projects like these foldable meal trays and had provided integral and smooth delivery to our client in a timely manner.
